Borehole drilling, pump lifts and fault diagnosis

If you require a borehole constructed to exceed the quality requirements of a local authority risk assessment get in touch.

There will be no potential surface water ingress, open casings or questionable electrics. The borehole will be properly sealed with a stainless steel casing and flange plate – minimum >150mm above ground, a Grundfos SQE constant pressure system pump set up including borehole control box, pressure vessel and transducer, all housed within a 2ft x 3ft well head enclosure with stainless steel lid,

Areas covered for borehole drilling include:

  • West Yorkshire
  • Lancashire
  • The Yorkshire Dales
  • Cumbria
  • Cheshire
  • Derbyshire

The steel rising main can often be replaced with MDPE plastic pipe to eliminate corrosion, resulting in reduced maintenance.

Poor flow and pressure from borehole pump

The new customer had reported low flow and pressure from their borehole pump. Tests were carried out and either a hole in the pipe or a worn pump was diagnosed. The pump had been in use for 25 years so had served them well. The 1.25″ steel rising main and pump were extracted. A small hole was found in the pipe. A new dry running protected pump, cable and MDPE plastic pipe were installed – all within 3.5 hours. Cowling, North Yorkshire.

Poor flow and pressure from the borehole and high electricity bill – fault diagnosis

The borehole pump would not reach the set pressure to switch off so had probably been running for months non stop. The pump was extracted and the steel rising main was found to have several holes in it. The pump and cable were replaced along with new MDPE pipe to prevent reoccurrence of the problem. Glusburn Moor, North Yorkshire.
